Outcome: 2^nd Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child Dismissed

Description: Client was charged with 2^nd degree endangering the welfare of a child, which carries with it a 5 to ten year prison term. Our client was home with her children when her children somehow left the home and had wandered around the neighborhood. In a state of panic she failed to call the police while she frantically searched for her children. When she finally caught up with the children, they were speaking to police who immediately began to question the mother. Her motherly instincts took over, and she ended up trying to take the children home without offering the police any explanation. She was immediately arrested, and also charged with resisting arrest. After offering character evidence and vigorously defending our client, we were able to convince the Essex County Prosecutor's Office to dismiss the 2^nd degree charge so our client was able to avoid any jail time whatsoever.
